Walmart opening East End store inside Loop 610

HOUSTON – Walmart will open a Supercenter in the East End on Jan. 15, 2014, making it the retail giant’s second Supercenter inside Loop 610.

The 185,000-sf store at 2391 South Wayside Dr., near I-45 South will offer groceries, including freshly made tortillas; a pharmacy; apparel; electronics; hardware and home furnishings.

The store will hire more than 300 people, either full- or part-time.

When the East End store opens, Walmart will have 65 Supercenters in the greater Houston area.

Walmart opened its first Inner Loop Supercenter at 111 Yale, near the Heights, in 2012.
