SAN ANTONIO - Leaders with the City of San Antonio and the Texas Department of Transportation have announced more than $800 million for several road projects.

Along Hwy. 281, planners announced a new four-lane, non-toll expressway plus two toll lanes from Loop 1604 to Stone Oak Pkwy. In addition, Hwy. 281 will expand into a four-lane toll road from Stone Oak Pkwy. to the Bexar/Comal County line. Construction on this phase of Hwy. 281 is slated to begin in fall 2015.

On I-10, there will be two new toll lanes, one in each direction, from Loop 1604 to Ralph Fair Rd. The existing four non-toll lanes will remain. The I-10 construction will begin in late 2016.

There will also be congestion relief for those who drive along Loop 1604 on the city's far West Side. Loop 1604 will be expanded into a four-lane, non-toll Hwy. from SH 151 to US 90. There will be two lanes in each direction.

All three projects are expected to be complete within two to five years.
