SAN ANTONIO - The residential recovery in San Antonio continues, according to housing research firm Metrostudy.

Over the course of 2013, home builders in the greater San Antonio housing market sold a total of 8,150 newly constructed homes.

That figure marks a 9.7 percent increase from the 7,429 closings recorded in 2012, reports Metrostudy, which released its year-end analysis of San Antonio’s new-home market.

Construction activity was up as well. Metrostudy reports that home builders began construction on 8,358 new homes in 2013 — marking a 3.3 percent increase from the 8,089 construction starts recorded for 2012.

But the lot-shortage challenge may be coming to a conclusion, according to local housing expert Jack Inselmann. There were 17,629 developed lots on the ground at the end of 2013 — up from the 17,077 developed lots recorded as of year-end 2012.
