AMARILLO - Roberts Truck Center, based in Amarillo, and Diamond Cos., based in Memphis, Tenn., have merged to become Summit Holdings.

Summit Holdings, with annual revenues expected to approach $1 billion, will do business as Summit Truck Group, Summit Bus and Summit Lease & Rental.

Summit Holdings employs more than 1,300 people and runs 29 commercial truck and bus dealerships in Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

Both companies were privately held entities before the merger, and Summitt Holdings will also be privately held.

Roberts Truck Center was founded in 1975 when Dave Roberts purchased Western International Trucks in Amarillo.
