CORPUS CHRISTI - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Master of Science in Nursing was ranked in the top ten for 2014 Best Online Education Programs by U.S. News & World Report, up from its ranking of 31st on the list last year.

The university was awarded the No. 10 spot of 130 online programs, which were evaluated for factors such as student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, peer reputation and admissions selectivity.

The university offers three specialties through its online nursing master’s programs. One is as a family nurse practitioner, which allows registered nurses to work in clinical settings to treat acute illnesses and under-control chronic conditions.

The university also offers a leadership program for nurses, preparing them for serving in roles ranging from clinical administrator to head nurse on a hospital floor. Lastly, the program offers a degree in nursing education, which allows nurses to work in a variety of educational areas, including teaching nursing at colleges and universities.

The program offers a variety of ways for professors and students to interact with students long distance. The program also provides online case studies, which the students analyze and discuss via Internet forums.
