Amarillo Conn’s HomePlus opens

AMARILLO – The 30,000-sf Conn’s HomePlus store, located at 2510 S. Soncy Rd., has opened its doors. Conn’s leased the space, which has been vacant since 2009 when Circuit City went out of business.

The Conn’s Inc. chain carries household appliances, furniture, electronics, mattresses and other merchandise.

The Amarillo store is one of five that Conn’s plans to open by the end of January 2014. Stores in Albuquerque, N.M., and Chandler, Ariz., will also open Saturday, and a store in Shreveport, La., according to social media posts by Conn’s.

A Sears Outlet has also opened in a 35,000-sf space at the Summit Shopping Center at Southwest 34th Ave. and Coulter St.

The store is operated by Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores — not to be confused with Sears Holdings, which runs the Sears store at Westgate Mall.
