Edinburg Doctors Hospital opening four buildings in 2014
EDINBURG – Four construction projects are underway at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, located at 5501 S. McColl Rd.
As it transitions to a healthcare system, Doctors Hospital is spending about $8 million to construct three new buildings:
• a bariatric and metabolic institute,
• a urology institute, and
• the Edinburg branch of Harvard Medical School-affiliated Joslin Diabetes Center.
A 13,000-sf expansion of the conference center on the hospital’s campus is the fourth project.
The expansion is the latest for the facility that opened as an outpatient clinic in 1997 and grew into a 30-bed hospital in 2003. The hospital currently houses 530 beds.
The hospital contributes more than $6.7 million in property and sales taxes annually and employs 3,600 people.
