AUSTIN – The Southern California development company that is building new homes near Onion Creek Parkway and I-35 plans to launch what it believes is a one-of-kind rental community in the U.S. American Housing Ventures has acquired 80 acres of agricultural land in East Austin with plans to build and lease — not sell — single-family homes.

The property is near the intersection of FM 973 and Hwy. 71 east of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

The homes will be detached units and have three- or four-bedrooms. The community also will offer amenities like a clubhouse, pool, fitness center, playground, dog park and walking trails.

“We don’t think anyone has ever done this to this magnitude or quality,” said Mark Wolf, CEO of American Housing Ventures.

Leases on the homes will be on par with rents that are charged for large apartments with three or four bedrooms.
