DALLAS-FORT WORTH - The DFW retail market ended 2013 with 90.02 percent occupancy, the first time the market breached the important 90 percent threshold since 2004.

While greatly improved, the market still needs to see notable leasing activity to bring it to the market's high point, 92 percent at year-end 2001.

For year-end 2013, the occupancy rate in the Dallas area was 89.8 percent, compared to 88.9 percent at year-end 2012. The occupancy rate in the Fort Worth area was even better, with an occupancy rate of 90.5 percent, compared to 89.6 percent at year-end 2012.
