BRIDGE CITY – The $9.5 million restoration of the 73-year-old Cow Bayou Bridge on TX 87 is underway, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

In February 2014, all traffic will transfer to the southbound bridge, which will be restriped from three lanes to four lanes to accommodate north and southbound traffic.

Project completion is expected by spring 2015.

The two-lane bridge was built in 1941 and originally served north and southbound traffic.
