Waco jobless rate falls in December
WACO – A report by the Texas Workforce Commission revealed the jobless rate in the Waco MSA, which includes all McLennan County, dipped to 5.2 percent in December from 5.5 percent in November and 5.7 percent in December of 2012.
About 1,700 more people held jobs in McLennan County in December compared to December 2012. The categories of leisure/hospitality and construction continue to perform well, creating 1,500 jobs between them during the 12 months that ended in December.
Waco saw employment rise to 111,200 in December, up from 111,000 in November and 109,500 in December of 2012.
Statewide, the jobless rate fell for the fifth straight month in December, down to 5.6 percent, according to seasonally adjusted figures.
