AUSTIN – Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) ended 2013 by reaching the 10 million passenger milestone for the first time in the airport’s history, setting a new record for annual traffic for the third consecutive year.

A total of 10,017,958 passengers passed through Austin in 2013, up 6 percent, or 587,644 passengers, from the previous record year of 9,430,314 in 2012.

ABIA has now experienced consistent passenger growth for four consecutive years, including 47 of the last 48 months. The Milken Institute recently named Austin the nation’s best-performing large city in 2013 in terms of job growth and sustainability.

Highlighting the year’s growth in passenger traffic ABIA announced its first transatlantic nonstop air service. British Airways will begin Austin-London nonstop flights on March 3, 2014.
