HOUSTON – As momentum for Houston’s Super Bowl heats up, the new convention center Marriott Marquis will break ground April 11.

The $335 million, 1,000-room hotel is expected to open in 2016. It will be across the street from the George R. Brown Convention Center, and the facilities will connect via pedestrian skybridges. Rida Development Corp. is developing the project.

The 2017 Super Bowl has been spurring a lot of momentum among Houston First and other groups that market the city. Houston Business Journal recently reported that Houston First and the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau are in discussions about the best way to work together to promote the city.
