GARLAND – Garland’s International Leadership of Texas charter school has broken ground for a new $20 million high school. Located at the southwest corner of Arapaho Rd. and Shiloh Rd., the 75,000-sf facility could have the potential to hold more than 600 students.

In addition to the educational facility, a dormitory will be built to house 192 Chinese exchange students in the upcoming school year.

The charter school has approximately 144 students per grade in kindergarten through eighth grade. Its approximately 150 ninth- and tenth-grade students were placed in Arapaho Baptist Church, across from the high school’s future site.

Garland’s International Leadership of Texas is a charter school that opened in August 2013. The school places an emphasis on students learning English, Spanish and Mandarin simultaneously.

The school has another location in Arlington and will expand to Keller in August.
