DALLAS-FORT WORTH - The supply of “big box” retail stores is down to about 133, the lowest mark since before the recession. At the height of the recession in 2009, there were 224 of these large retail stores sitting empty around North Texas.
“We expect that number to fall closer to 100 properties by year-end 2014," according to a new CBRE report. “The availability of Class A box space has virtually disappeared.”
CBRE says that 87 large retail stores with 3.7 million sf were leased, sold or torn down for new development between 2012 and 2013.
