TEMPLE – The Temple City Council has approved a $5.5 million contract to build a pipeline to supply treated wastewater to a new natural-gas fueled power plant that’s now under construction.

Dallas-based Panda Power Funds is building the Temple I Power Plant, which will have a total capacity of 758-megawatts and will produce enough power to supply the needs of about 750,000 homes in Central and North Texas.

The pipeline, which represents about two-thirds of the length of the total project, is expected to be completed late this year.
