$3.5M Holiday Inn Express to Raymondville
RAYMONDVILLE, WILLACY COUNTY – A 75-room Holiday Inn Express hotel is under construction on the north side of Raymondville Plaza. The four-story hotel has an estimated construction cost of $3.5 million, according to state filings.
The hotel will employ 15 to 20 workers and draw more tourists to town, according to owner VJ Jhaveri. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2014.
Holiday Inn Express will offer tourists here more “upscale” lodging for corporate clients, business travelers and vacationers.
The new I-69 is expected to bring more business to the area. “We’re going to have more traffic,” said Jhaveri. “The economy is growing a little bit.”
It will be the first to open here since 2008, when La Quinta Inns & Suites opened across I-69, according to Elma Chavez, director of the Raymondville Chamber of Commerce.
