ABILENE – PepsiCo will shut down production operations at 650 Colonial Dr., resulting in layoffs of 30 employees. However, 130 employees will remain at the plant, according to Vincent Bozek, PepsiCo corporate spokesman.

“From what we know, some of the employees may transition to other departments,” said Steve Collins, Workforce Solutions business resource consultant. Workforce Solutions will have programs available to help laid off employees.

In 2010, Pepsi Bottling Group, which spun off from PepsiCo in 1999 but was later repurchased, bought family-owned Ab-Tex Beverage.
