H&M to anchor $6M, 43,900-SF El Paso mall addition
EL PASO – Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) will anchor a $6 million, 43,900-sf addition to the 95-store Outlet Shoppes at El Paso. H&M will take half of the new addition, which is currently underway.
The Outlet Shoppes at El Paso employ about 1,200 and, in 2013, the stores generated almost $150 million in sales, according to Gary Skoien, CEO of Horizon Group Properties, which built the $70 million mall and remains co-owner and operator.
The expansion is projected to add another $17 million in annual sales, and up to 200 more jobs.
About half the outlet mall’s shoppers come from Mexico and other areas outside of El Paso. "This center has increased (sales) every year, except the year the recession started. And this will be a big boost for it," said Skoien.
Love Culture, New York & Co. and Destination Maternity will also be in the new space. Another two to six stores will be added later, according to Skoien.
H&M and the other stores could be open as early as August 2014, but no later than October 2014.
