CEDAR HILL - J.C. Penney Co. has renewed its lease on a 420,000-sf distribution center. The facility, located at 1650 S. Hwy. 67, will keep J.C. Penney’s logistics network intact, said Nathan Orbin, a vice president with Jones Lang LaSalle.

"It was a build-to-suit project done for J.C. Penney years ago and we are renewing the lease," said Orbin. "It's a significant operation for J.C. Penney from a logistics perspective within their network. It made sense for them to continue to operate it."

Even though J.C. Penney reported a smaller loss than analysts expected for the fourth quarter — losing $206 million, or 68 cents per share —the retailer is still reeling from financial losses suffered under ousted leader Ron Johnson and is working to rebrand itself.
