LUBBOCK - The $22.8 million, 42,000-sf Bob L. Herd Department of Petroleum Engineering building has opened on Texas Tech’s campus.
The facility includes: smart classrooms; integrated research and teaching laboratories; and a Public Art Program in the south courtyard.
The building was funded by industry and private contributions, and was named after Bob L. Herd, a Tech alumnus, according to Tech System Chancellor Kent Hance. The next step that will be taken will be to hire more professors to accommodate the growing number of students, according to Hance.
