IRVING - Kroger Co. is in the middle of a $13 million expansion and renovation project for its 7505 N. MacArthur Blvd. location.

After demolishing the former Barnes and Noble Bookstore at the MacArthur Park shopping center, the grocery company has focused on adding 36,000 sf to its current location. The increase will bring Kroger’s 102,000 sf.

The expansion is expected to add 50 jobs to the area.

The Cincinnati-based company already has completed its fuel center expansion, adding eight more fueling stations.

Kroger expects to complete its expansion by fall 2014, when the store will reopen. New departments will include a Kroger kitchen, which will feature small appliances and accessories, a toy department, baby world, larger natural foods and health and beauty areas, and a new Starbucks.
