The Embassy Suites is set to occupy the southwest section of the Convention Center’s oval park, which is within walking distance of the Convention Center and Palms Crossing, a major retail center. A $40 million Performing Arts Center is planned for the southeast side of the Convention Center.

South Padre-based Goldstein Financial LLC will pay the City of McAllen $2.1 million for the property. Goldstein owns the Hilton Garden Inn and La Quinta Inn & Suites on South Padre Island.
