Embassy reserves $20M hotel in McAllen
McALLEN – A $20 million, 150-room Embassy Suites will constructed at McAllen’s Convention Center complex. Goldstein Financial LLC will build the 134,350-sf hotel — the only convention center hotel project south of San Antonio.
The six-story hotel will feature:
• one- and two-room suites throughout;
• 12,660 sf of ballroom and meeting space;
• 3,763 sf of food and beverage space;
• 209 parking spaces;
• an indoor pool and spa; and
• a full restaurant.
The Embassy Suites is set to occupy the southwest section of the Convention Center’s oval park, which is within walking distance of the Convention Center and Palms Crossing, a major retail center. A $40 million Performing Arts Center is planned for the southeast side of the Convention Center.
Construction on the hotel is expected to begin in fall 2014, with completion scheduled for spring 2016.
South Padre-based Goldstein Financial LLC will pay the City of McAllen $2.1 million for the property. Goldstein owns the Hilton Garden Inn and La Quinta Inn & Suites on South Padre Island.
