WAXAHACHIE, ELLIS COUNTY – The 101-year-old Rogers Hotel at 100 N. College St. has a new owner and a new look. The four-story building, which originally had 72 rooms, now has 31,336 sf of commercial space.

Dallas-based developer Jim Lake Cos. purchased the building which is about 50 percent leased.

Lake acquired the hotel from Southwest Securities FSB, which foreclosed on the property in 2012. The lender hired Coldwell Banker Commercial to restore and market the property.

The historic building attracted attention from buyers, said Coldwell Banker Commercial’s Judy Nitzinger. “We had calls weekly to schedule tours, many from curiosity seekers,” she said. “We even had calls to hold weddings in the building.”
