DENTON COUNTY - With a rapidly expanding senior population in Denton County, a new developer hopes to make a difference with a new senior living community that is set to open in April 2015.

SRP Medical will construct an 84,000-sf community with 75 assisted-living residences and 32 apartments for residents who need memory support, said Scott Wilson, founding partner and managing principal of SRP. Construction on the facility is set to begin in May near the Denton Regional Medical Center.

The development will have studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments with high-end features. The units are also value-oriented and will be priced based on the local market.

Projections by the North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging estimate that in the next ten years, the percentage of people more than 60 years old in Denton County will grow by 95.7 percent, and the percentage of those 85 and older will more than double.
