EL PASO – Walmart will open two neighborhood markets, located at 101 E. Redd Rd. and at U.S. Route 54 and Martin Luther King Blvd., in summer 2014 and summer 2015, respectively. A 182,000-sf supercenter on North Mesa St., north of Executive Center Blvd., will open in 2017.

The 42,000-sf neighborhood market on Redd Rd. at Doniphan Dr. in the Upper Valley will employ approximately 95 associates.

The supercenter will provide jobs for approximately 300 associates. Construction is set to start some time in 2016, and open in early 2017.

The supercenter will be at the center of Aldea, a 200-acre residential and commercial development in the area south of Montecillo between North Mesa and I-10.

Aldea will eventually have about 1,400 homes, two hotels, more than 1 million sf of retail and about 265,000 sf of office space, said Paul Silverman, the CEO of Aldea’s developer, Geltmore LLC.

Walmart operates 15 locations in the area, employing about 5,200 people. The company will be looking to hire veterans at its new locations, according to Hatfield.
