CORPUS CHRISTI - Flint Hills Resources announced plans to spend about $12 million on the construction of a new firehouse and a separate administration building. The fire company will spend nearly $5 million to build a 41,000-sf firehouse at 1750 Nueces Bay Blvd.

The company will also spend an additional $6.2 million in the construction of a separate administration building in the 1000 block of McBride Ln.

The company's operations may soon be better protected by Refinery Terminal Fire Co., which has plans for new buildings as well. The department launched in 1948 with one fire engine and one full-time firefighter and has grown to 170 personnel.
