BELTON – The City of Belton has approved a $2.5 million plan to add more space to the Belton Police Department building and enlarge its parking lot. The construction will take place on about 4.5 acres on both sides of East Second Ave. as well as to the east of Muelhouse St. and to the west of Birdwell St.

The police station, constructed in the 1990s, has nine lockers. However, around 40 people now work at the department, Police Chief Gene Ellis said.
