EL PASO - Where the city once ended at Transmountain Road and there was nothing but desert beyond, the pieces of a new community in Northwest El Paso are beginning to sprout: a hospital, a church, a school, as well as homes and businesses.

  • Tenet Healthcare is building a new for-profit teaching hospital, just south of Transmountain Rd. and Resler Dr., where it expects to open by February 2017.

  • Automatic Data Processing, known as ADP, is finishing work on a $41 million 150,000-sf facility — doubling the size of its operation — on its property south of Transmountain at 1851 N. Resler. The building doubles ADP size.

The company plans to add another 1,200 employees by 2020.

  • Abundant Living Faith Center, El Paso’s biggest nondenominational church, expects to begin construction on a 1,800-seat church opposite the Outlet Shoppes at El Paso in the area late this summer or in early fall.

  • In the Canutillo Independent School District, its newest campus, Reyes Elementary, is slated to open this year.

  • South of Transmountain, Desert View Homes has moved 123 families into its new Desert Springs subdivision. More than 200 lots are in various stages of development with the home prices ranging from $175,000 to $220,000.
