AUSTIN - The 27-story Dobie Center near the University of Texas campus is getting a $4 million makeover. The building at 2021 Guadalupe St. is owned by Dobie Austin LP. It’s a private student housing project with 979 beds.
Dobie Austin LP has owned the property since December 2005 and spent about $2 million in upgrades in 2007. The new renovations at the residence hall are currently underway and will be completed this fall.
Enhancements will be made to the individual rooms, kitchen, dining hall, fitness center, multimedia room, lobby and basketball and volleyball courts. The technology infrastructure also will be improved.
The company hired New York designer Daun Curry’s firm Modern Declarations to do the design. Dobie Center is currently managed by Campus Living Villages.
