McKINNEY – Construction is set to begin on two separate conference centers in McKinney — one at Collin College’s Central Park Campus, the other at the Gateway development.

Collin College expects to break ground on a 24,000-sf conference center at its McKinney campus, 2200 W. University Dr., by the end of May.

Construction on a 20,000-sf conference center connected to the Sheraton McKinney should begin in the coming weeks. Reconstruction of the hotel is underway at Gateway, a 90-acre development at the northeast corner of US 75 and Sam Rayburn Tollway.

The city will own the conference center, which along with the hotel, is expected to open by February 2015.
