BAYPORT - Air Liquide has broken ground on a $230 million redevelopment project at its complex in the Bayport Industrial District, just east of Houston.

The project includes upgrades to its state-of-the-art, energy efficient cogeneration unit to increase production capacity and extend its life by more than 20 years. The facility will have a full capacity of 300 megawatts of electricity and more than 1,300 tons of steam per hour.

The project also includes upgrading and expanding the capacity of an air separation unit and additional infrastructure. The major investment will help enable Air Liquide to meet the growing needs of customers throughout the Texas regional basin.

The project is on track to be completed in the next two years.

Air Liquide employs more than 5,000 people in the U.S. in over 200 locations. The company offers industrial and medical gases, technologies and related services to customers in energy, industrial, electronics and health care markets.
