FORT HOOD - The U.S. military post will lose about 3,350 military personnel over the next two years, according to a source on Capitol Hill who obtained the information from a Pentagon official.

Its part of an Armywide plan to cut 40,000 soldiers from its current force of about 490,000.

Fort Hood will not lose any of its four brigade combat teams, according to an email from the government official.

Currently, Fort Hood has about 39,000 troops and 4,600 civilians who work for the Department of the Army.

Another 2,500 people work in the post’s schools, stores and other facilities.
