Pharr At Home in 107,000-SF furnishing store
PHARR – At Home has broken ground on its 107,000-sf home furnishings store near the intersection of West Kelly Ave. and South Jackson Rd. The estimated cost of construction is $7.4 million, according to state filings.
The store, situated on eight acres, is scheduled to open in October 2014, according to Fred Sandoval, director of the Pharr Economic Development Corp.
At Home will hire over 20 employees, according to Dean Zurmely, vice president of real estate. Additionally, Garden Ridge will both run and own Pharr’s At Home store.
“We’re currently undergoing a name change, and a corporate identity change, and so that’s why some of you might know us as Garden Ridge,” said Zurmely.
The Pharr At Home location will be the store’s first in South Texas. At Home will be part of the redevelopment of a 40-acre area southeast of Interstate-2 and Expy. 83.
The city invested some $16 million in the 40-acre location around 2011, and At Home paid approximately $2.6 million for their space.
