McAllen salutes Veterans with $20M, 60,000-SF clinic
McALLEN – The new $20 million, 60,000-sf Veterans Administration outpatient clinic, located at 901 E. Hackberry Ave., has opened its doors.
The clinic, principally a primary care facility, will feature specialty care in three areas: optometry, prosthetics and physical therapy.
The facility will also have areas dedicated to women’s health and behavioral health, along with psychological, psychiatric, and peer support services available on-site.
More than 60 staffers will transfer to the new location from the clinic’s former location on South Second St., and additional hires are planned.
Officials expect to treat more than 10,000 patients annually at the clinic, said Hugo Martinez, agency spokesman. Nine teams of primary care providers will feature a primary care doctor, a registered nurse, a licensed vocational nurse and a social worker.
