CAMERON, MILAM COUNTY - Halliburton, with more than 75,000 employees, representing 140 nationalities in 80 countries, has contracted with Iron Horse Ranch to construct and operate an employee lodging facility on County Rd. 139.

Down the road, Halliburton is nearing completion on a Drilling, Testing and Training facility on 1,300 acres of purchased land..

The facility, which is expected to be completed in late summer 2014, will include testing and training wells, a workshop for tool preparation and inspection, offices, classrooms and conference rooms.

The project will be used exclusively by Halliburton employees and contracted personnel attending training sessions and testing events. It will include 55 private living quarters, dining facilities, a common meeting room and outdoor recreation areas, including a golf driving range and fishing pond.

“From what I have heard, their total investment here will be $20 million or so,” said Milam County Judge Dave Barkemeyer.

Halliburton will use the facility to test new technologies and to train employees for all of its business lines, Halliburton spokeswoman Susie McMichael said.

Iron Horse Ranch’s contractor needs are building materials, landscaping materials, paving, asphalt and concrete, mowing and groundskeeping, HVAC (materials and labor), plumbing (materials and labor), electrical (materials and labor), waste/trash disposal, housekeeping staff, shuttle drivers (Class A or B license with passenger endorsement) and appliance repairs.
