SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio-based GDC Technics Ltd., the former Gore Design Completions Ltd., may expand its local employment by as many as 350 over the next year based on a growing backlog of work installing custom interiors for head-of-state and corporate aircraft.

Based on the aircraft we’re expecting this year and 2015, we could get up to 1,000 people by this time next year,” GDC Sales and Marketing Director Joe Barrett said via phone from Switzerland’s EBACE 2014 trade show.

GDC, which last year renewed the lease on its 145,000-sf facility at Port San Antonio, remains committed to growing in the Alamo City, Barrett adds.

Barrett says GDC’s expanded service offerings could include engineering work, maintenance and major modifications including installation of new communication equipment. The company also could target work on specialized government aircraft such as surveillance planes

GDC currently employs 650 at Port San Antonio.
