DALLAS – Over the last decade, the West Dallas area has been slowly transitioning from an industrial and commercial district to a residential neighborhood. A handful of new apartment projects are poised to add 1,300 units to the redeveloping area.

•  Henry S. Miller Co. is developing a $43 million, 318-unit complex near Fort Worth Ave. and Sylvan Ave.
•  Wood Partners is building about 200 apartments in the Sylvan Thirty mixed-use project at 1818 Sylvan Ave.
•  Wood Partners is also constructing 252 apartments on West Commerce St., dubbed Alta West Commerce.
•  Robert Shaw and Roger Staubach plan to construct up to 1,000 apartments in Trinity Groves, a $100 million project on Singleton Blvd. Work on Trinity Groves is expected to begin in late 2014.

High apartment rents and even higher land prices have caused apartment builders to look at West Dallas and north Oak Cliff for potential construction sites.
