EL PASO - The city ranked eighth among the nation's 100 largest metro areas for growth in population and high-income households (annual income of at least $200,000) between 2005 and 2013, shows a report by SelfStorage.com, a self-storage industry website.

El Paso's population grew from 708,319 in 2005 to 834,630 in 2013, an increase of 126,311 people, or up almost 18 percent, the ranking shows.

The percentage of El Paso households making at least $200,000 a year went from 1 percent of the population in 2005 to 2.1 percent in 2013 — up 110 percent.
