DALLAS - After months of designing a new midrise office tower for longtime office tenant Rolex, Dallas-based Harwood International is getting ready to begin work on the seven-story, 130,000-sf build-to-suit office building in Uptown.

The new Rolex building will sit on the small tract of grassy land adjacent to Saint Ann Court at Harry Hines Blvd. and Moody St.

Rolex now has an office in its namesake building — the Rolex Building — at 2651 N. Harwood St. in the Harwood District.

The high-end watch manufacturer has been a tenant in the Rolex Building since the seven-story, 105,000-sf building was developed in 1984 as the initial phase of the district.

The firm's in-house general contracting entity plans to build the development, which includes an office building with several floors devoted to a parking garage for Rolex employees.

Construction is slated to begin on the site by the end of the summer, with completion expected at the end of 2016.
