SAN ANTONIO – Big Tex — a $50 million plan to turn the former Big Tex Grain Co. into an eclectic urban residential community — is underway.

Lifshutz Cos. LP and NRP Group LLC aim to turn the property that once housed a livestock-feed manufacturer and grain retailer and wholesaler into multifamily housing for the Central Business District.

Plans call for 336 units and 6,000 sf of ground-floor retail space.
