Big Lake to hold $32M medical complex

BIG LAKE, REAGAN COUNTY - A $32.2 million medical complex is underway on 14 acres in the northwest corner of Big Lake.

The 67,000-sf complex will include the hospital and its emergency room, a wellness center, a 36-bed care center, a helipad, a doctor’s clinic and a retail pharmacy.

The completion date will be late summer or early fall 2015.

“The old building served the community well for 65 years,” said Bill Peeples, of the Austin-based architecture firm of Downing, Ferguson and Peeples. “My hat’s off to those builders. We hope to get a good 65 years out of this new complex.”

Reagan Hospital District acquired the acreage for the complex via a donation from a local family. The property is north of East 12th Street between Doris Way and Plaza Avenue.
