double the national rate, according to the latest S&P/Case-Shiller
Home Price Indices. Following a trend seen in other recent months,
Dallas ranked No. three nationally behind Denver and San Francisco,
where year-over-year home prices rose 0.2 percent and 9.5 percent,
respectively, in June. The average increase for 20 large metropolitan areas tracked by Case-Shiller was 5 percent, about the same as in May. In
the Dallas area, home prices are at a record high and up 19 percent
from where they were at the peak of the housing market before the
recession in April 2007, according to data from Case-Shiller.
