AMARILLO - Gaut Whittenburg Commercial Real Estate has completed its survey of the Amarillo Central Business District (CBD) for all of 2013 and first quarter 2014.

Occupancy in the CBD ended up about 1.5 percent at approximately 93 percent. At the beginning of 2013, there was 132,598 rentable sf of vacancy in the market, but there was only 104,257 sf available at the end of 1Q 2014.

The positive change in occupancy is the result of a few ownership changes downtown, one of which resulted in a change of use for the property.

The five-quarter period saw negative absorption of 4,330 sf, marking a relatively flat market.
