CORPUS CHRISTI – Building off the first phase of Oak Park Cottages, the locally based Advanced Housing Alternatives Corp. is preparing to complete construction on a second phase of cottage housing off Mueller St. and Erwin Ave.

Situated on the city’s Westside, the units consist of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes.

In the first phase, Advanced Housing tore down four houses, replacing them with eight cottage houses now occupied by veterans, individuals eligible for Section 8 housing vouchers and low-income families.

The second phase is building nine cottage houses on the site of the Oak Park United Methodist Church.

Last week, developers announced plans for a third phase, close to the intersection of Leopard St. and Mueller St. That construction would include 12 cottages and a multifamily complex, with an undetermined number of units.

Rent on the cottages ranges from $850 to $1,100.
