Manvel marvel: $700M Pomona starts first of 2,100 homesites

MANVEL, BRAZORIA COUNTY – Ground has broken on Pomona, a 1,000-acre property near Hwy. 288, about 20 miles south of downtown Houston. The new community will eventually include 2,100 single-family homesites.

Houses in the $700 million development will range in price from $250,000 to $400,000. It will include a new elementary school. A third of the property will remain undeveloped.

Drive time from Pomona to the Texas Medical Center and Houston’s Central Business District will take roughly 30 minutes.

This is the first Houston-area master-planned community for Dallas-based Hillwood Communities. Nearby master-planned communities, such as Sedona Lakes, which is also located in Manvel, and Shadow Creek Ranch in Pearland, are selling well.
