LONGVIEW - Longview-area home sales recovered in May from a steep dive in April, pushing year-to-date sales ahead of 2013’s pace.

The Longview Area Association of Realtors reported 221 sales closed in May, up 26 percent from May 2013 and up nearly 41 percent from the 157 homes sold in April. It pushed total sales in 2014 to 854, an increase of 1.5 percent from the first five months 2013.

The average sales price declined slightly in May to $168,044. April’s average was $175,144; May 2013 was $171,169.
