TYLER – Simmons Real Estate has closed the sale of 18.8 acres that will bring Tyler’s fourth Walmart Supercenter to the intersection of SH 31 and Loop 323.

The 182,000-sf store is expected to break ground in spring or summer 2015 and open spring 2016. The store will employ about 300 people.

The Supercenter will offer groceries, deli and bakery goods, a pharmacy, baby and pet items, health and beauty supplies, household items, toys, sporting goods and apparel.

Walmart had the property under contract for more than 18 months, but would not build on the tract unless the area allowed beer and wine sales, which was passed by voters in November 2013.
