SAN ANTONIO – The Board of Directors of VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio have approved the 90,000-sf second phase of the Westside Multimodal Transit Center.

The space is designed to draw people in for food, entertainment and leisure. When completed, the plaza will span an entire city block.

It will be surrounded by a metal and glass Grand Canopy that will be equipped with a photovoltaic panel that will be used to generate electricity for the majority of the facility’s lighting.

The entrance to the plaza will be located at the corner of Houston and Frio, adjacent the historic and newly renovated I&GN Station.

The project is expected to break ground during July.
