DALLAS – Home prices for the Dallas area for May 2014 were up 8.7 percent from May 2013, according to a report by CoreLogic Inc.

The city’s price increase was close to the 8.8 percent nationwide annual home price rise that was recorded by the corporation.

CoreLogic reported the largest home price gains to be in Riverside and Los Angeles, California. The cities experienced an 18.2 percent and a 13.4 percent rise.

In the state of Texas, Houston saw bigger gains with a 13 percent jump in home prices during the period.
